Trailer Love: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

If the only way to save the world was to destroy what you loved most, would you do it?

The clock is ticking. Everyone must choose.

Passion. Power. Secrets. Enchantment.

Danger closes in around the Shadowhunters in the final installment of the bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy.

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare is probably one of the top most anticipated books of 2013. The characters Clare has created have stolen (and broken) hearts, and it's impossible to imagine a world where Tessa, Will, and Jem don't exist.

The trailer is surprising ~ dark and intense. What is Tessa... Will... Jem... going to choose?

Enjoy :)

OMG ~ Beautiful Creatures Movie Trailer

There were no surprises in Gatlin County.
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.

At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

If you don't know how much I love the wonderfully southern gothic Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, lemme just state it for the record now.. I LOVE THEM!

k, now that I've gotten that off my chest, I'm wicked excited to share the Beautiful Creatures movie trailer with you... it says "teaser trailer," but I'm not sure how much more than can add without giving it all away... I literally had goosebumps, misty eyes, the whole nine yards... Stoked.. :)

You know, I wasn't a fan of who they cast for Ethan Wate, but he's starting to grow on me...

What do you think??

Trailer Love: Alice in Zombieland by Gina Showalter

She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.
I'd tell my sister no.
I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad.
I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.
Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.
I'd tell them I love them.
I wish... Yeah, I wish.

mm mm mm only a few more days until this little beauty is finally released for all to enjoy! Just saw the trailer ~ lovely and on the verge of heartbreaking... oh, and there's the creepiness factor too ;)

Release Date: September 25th!

Trailer Love: What's Left of Me by Kat Zhang

I should not exist. But I do.

Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t . . .

For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable-hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet . . . for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.

Could you imagine being locked inside a body you had no control over? Gives me chills just trying to imagine it... Two souls? Interesting concept I'm definitely excited to explore...

And that cover?! w.o.w.

So here's the trailer ~ it's fabulous.. I love book trailers, but so many of them are... eh... This is not one of those trailers... #totallypumped ;)

Check it out....

I'll cut it short ~ give you some time to calm the goosebumps I'm sure have taken residence ;)

Trailer Love: Don't Turn Around by Michelle Gagnon

Sixteen-year-old Noa has been a victim of the system ever since her parents died. Now living off the grid and trusting no one, she uses her computer-hacking skills to stay safely anonymous and alone. But when she wakes up on a table in an empty warehouse with an IV in her arm and no memory of how she got there, Noa starts to wish she had someone on her side.

Enter Peter Gregory. A rich kid and the leader of a hacker alliance, Peter needs people with Noa's talents on his team. Especially after a shady corporation called AMRF threatens his life in no uncertain terms.

But what Noa and Peter don't realize is that Noa holds the key to a terrible secret, and there are those who'd stop at nothing to silence her for good.

Fans of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" will devour the story of Noa, a teen soul mate to Lisbeth Salander.

Mmmmmm... I never read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo... Not that I haven't wanted to, just, ya know the old saying..."so many books, so little time."  This sounds delectable, and being the trailer whore that I am, I just had to share it with you guys. And isn't that cover awesome! I love the way the words curve around the hand... and the fading colors...

too bad I need sleep and those little green papery things called dollar bills to feed myself.. I'd spend all my time reading books like these...

Trailer Love: Ten by Gretchen McNeil

And their doom comes swiftly.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

Read the synopsis? Reminiscing about the days of The RingI Know What You Did Last Summer, and Scream? I did too at first... Probably what caught my intrigue ~ what? don't judge... ;) This sounded like a typical teen-slasher story, where the boys and girls all possess great genes, hook up at one point or another, and eventually meet their demise thanks to a creepy guy in a rain coat with a scythe in hand.

The trailer earns the supposedly cliche story some respect from this reader ~ it's creepishly awesome.. the whole Ring vibe with the message of revenge.. and the singing in the background.. Nothing is creepier than opera type singing when a murderer is in the midst... Gave me chills, and now I desperately need September 18th to get here as soon as possible...

Happy Reading Everyone :)

Spotlight: The Forsaken by Lisa M Stasse

As an obedient orphan of the U.N.A. (the super-country that was once Mexico, the U.S., and Canada), Alenna learned at an early age to blend in and be quiet—having your parents taken by the police will do that to a girl. But Alenna can’t help but stand out when she fails a test that all sixteen-year-olds have to take: The test says she has a high capacity for brutal violence, and so she is sent to The Wheel, an island where all would-be criminals end up.

The life expectancy of prisoners on The Wheel is just two years, but with dirty, violent, and chaotic conditions, the time seems a lot longer as Alenna is forced to deal with civil wars for land ownership and machines that snatch kids out of their makeshift homes. Desperate, she and the other prisoners concoct a potentially fatal plan to flee the island. Survival may seem impossible, but Alenna is determined to achieve it anyway.

Awesome, eh? Kinda like Lost combined with The Hunger Games to make a whole new level of dystopian survival-of-the-fittest. At least, that's what I get from the synopsis. And the cover? How can it not get your attention? Pretty amazing right down to the type of font used. The reviews seemed to be mixed, so this is one that you seem to need to read for yourself ~ seems people either love it or hate it. hmmm... hope to get my hands on it soon to come up with my own verdict :).

And of course, no post here would be complete without at least one trailer...

Happy Reading Everyone :)

Fallen for Covers

Fallen for Covers is a weekly meme hosted by Fallen Angels YA Book Blog. Share your obsession with the beauty of the book cover. "Don't judge a book by it's cover..." blah, blah blah.. That's all well and true, but the cover is artwork in itself and draws us into the content. Mine was chosen after perusing the website an artist that's been mentioned in the book blogosphere. You can check out Phatpuppy Art, and see all the beautiful covers she has created. Pure talent!

Honalee by Amanda Hocking
**I love Amanda Hocking, and I can't resist a good story about witches. Throw in the sweetly designed cover, and I'm done for.**

In the small midwestern town of Honalee, Hazel Panning and her best friend Molly Novak are determined to get through her sophomore year in one piece, despite the vicious cheerleaders and Hazel's ridiculous crush on Landon Hooper.

Life gets more complicated when Hazel realizes that she has a penchant for sorcery, like her aunt. Her plans to stay under the radar take a detour when she and Molly stand up for themselves, and Hazel gets the courage to act on her feelings for Landon.

Hazel discovers that the sleepy town of Honalee isn't so sleepy, and magic doesn't make high school easier.

Why? The color scheme is gorgeous ~ purples and blues = magic ~ and it has that touch of classic witchiness. The spiderwebs and spindly trees in the background and the girl with a contrast of pale skin and dark clothing and hair illuminated by the lantern. Just completely eye-catching. Love it! That, and I'm a huge fan of Amanda Hocking :).

Oh, and you know how I love to include the trailer...

So, it wasn't really out in 2010. It was supposed to come out this year, but Amanda stated she wanted to rewrite the ending, so unfortunately, we might be waiting until 2014. So far away!! But I'm sure it'll be worth it :)

Book Trailer: Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen

I just finished Scarlet last night ~ one of my favorite books of the year. I couldn't stop thinking about it, couldn't put it down, couldn't bring myself to read anything else (which is strange for me, a person who reads 2 to 3 books at a time), until I finished the darn thing. Amazing!! I need to come up with some new adjectives because "amazing" just doesn't cut it anymore for a book like this... Real review to come soon :)

I just wanted to spotlight this book for a sec, and share the trailer I stumbled across on YouTube.. The song rocks, the book rocks.. check it out :)

Book Trailer ~ Wake by Amanda Hocking

Gemma seems to have it all—she’s carefree, pretty, and falling in love with Alex, the boy next door. He’s always been just a friend, but this summer they’ve taken their relationship to the next level, and now there’s no going back. Then one night, Gemma’s ordinary life changes forever. She’s taking a late night swim under the stars when she finds Penn, Lexi and Thea partying on the cove. They invite her to join them, and the next morning she wakes up on the beach feeling groggy and sick, knowing something is different.

Suddenly Gemma is stronger, faster, and more beautiful than ever. But her new powers come with a terrifying price. And as she uncovers the truth, she’s is forced to choose between staying with those she loves—or entering a new world brimming with dark hungers and unimaginable secrets.

I am so stoked that Amanda Hocking is releasing a new book this month! Three more days, to be exact... I'm a huge fan of her oozing-with-imagination novels, and I'm sure this one will be no exception.. And for your viewing pleasure, here's Wake's trailer:

Books to Movies: The Host

Stephenie Meyer has become a household name. Even if you've never read her books, you've at least heard of her and her either much-loved or much-hated Twilight series. (I'm in the 'much-loved' category, and I'm not the least bit ashamed to admit it.) In the middle of the Twilight hype, Stephenie released The Host, the first book I ever read by her and one that was completely over-shadowed by the noise of squealing Team Jacob and Team Edward teenage fans. It's a shame, really, that this book didn't receive the attention it deserved. It's more science fiction than paranormal ~ think Revenge of the Body Snatchers ~ but it's more about the surviving and thriving elements of humanity than about the conquering of the world by an alien race. Just trust me ~ it's good ;).

They made movies of all of Stephenie Meyer's other books, so it makes sense that would make one based on The Host. I stumbled upon the trailer and cast list ~ the movie will be released in March, 2013 ~ and although the trailer looks awesome, I'm a little perturbed about who they are casting as Melanie Stryder ~ Saoirse Ronan. I love her, don't get me wrong, but I always pictured Melanie as this dark Amazonian looking woman   who can outrun just about anyone. I guess we'll find out..

My preconceived notions aside, here's the trailer for The Host. Looking forward to it :).

OOOO, so I've just finished City of Ashes, but I came across the trailer debut for the fifth book, City of Lost Souls in Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series. If I wasn't motivated before to move immediately to book three, I'm definitely dying to find out what happens now... I've got a lot of catching up to do...

Check out the trailer at Entertainment Weekly . I've got chills....

Beautiful Creatures

You know, I find it very difficult to keep up with the news about new novels, author tour dates, and film adaptations. It's not that I don't look or don't care, it's just that there's so much of it! I'll focus on a few authors, follow them and their work only to stumble upon news of another of my favorite authors that's over a month old! It's rather discouraging.. But I keep at it ;)

So my point is, I discovered some very exciting information this morning. My favorite series, The Caster Chronicles, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl will be adapted onto the big screen in February of 2013. Last month, Kami Garcia posted a list of the cast, and for the most part, I'm really liking the direction this is going.

Viola Davis will be Amma ~ I mean really, who else could play the strong-willed, strict, loving, mother figure of Ethan Wate?

Jack O'Connell will play Ethan Wate. Not sure how I feel about this one, but then again, I had a problem at first with Josh Hutcherson playing Peeta, and that turned out to be a glorious decision.

Alice Englert will be none other than the mysterious and powerful Lena Duchannes. Not sure what I think yet. She's typical of what beauty is today. I pictured Emily Browning as Lena ~ uniquely beautiful.

And my favorite, Link, will by played by Thomas Mann. Looking at him, he gives me a new face to put to Link. Perfect!

And Emmy Rossum will play the sexy, troubled, lolli-pop-riot-causing Ridley. I would never have guessed it, but after seeing her in Shameless, I think she fits the role pretty well.

You can see who else is cast here on Kami Garcia's blog. So much to look forward to!!

There were no surprises in Gatlin County.
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.
At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

I Got Chilllllssss!

I'm going to try to refrain from being one of those annoying fifteen year old teenage squeak toys that insist on putting OMG twenty-seven different ways to get the point across that they are excited. I'm just going to say, I'm so friggin' stoked :) It's March ~ the month I've been waiting for since I found out they were making a movie of The Hunger Games. Get a life you say? Ha, you've obviously never read the books... You're life pushes the *hold* button when you're nose is in these books, and anyone who I've gotten to read these books knows EXACTLY what I'm raving about...

So don't judge, just read :)

I try to keep up with 'current events,' and when I say that I mean the latest info, trailers, clips, etc... when it comes to books or movies... But alas, I'm always about seven steps behind everyone else.. What can I say? I've got a day job and two men and three dogs (not to mention a very senile cat) to clean up after... I struggle constantly to keep up with my hobbies... So why am I rambling? Well, I came across this very chill-inducing trailer that I hadn't yet seen (although I'm sure most others have) for The Hunger Games and I just needed to share it...

 Impressed yet? I thought so...

  Happy Reading Everyone :)
