Fallen for Covers is a weekly meme hosted by Fallen Angels YA Book Blog every Sunday. This is when we cover whores (me, totally) get to share our obsession with cover art with a little gushing over a particular book.

::mine for the week::

**whew** That synopsis gives me goosebumps. And that cover... I don't know what it is, but I love it! The shadow of a girl filled with obstacle after obstacle ~ that's what I see. The color scheme is awesome too ~ very dark, but the gold hues add a glimmer of hope. Can't wait to have this little beauty on my shelf :).

Fallen for Covers

That's all well and true, but the cover is artwork in itself and draws us into the content. Mine was chosen after perusing the website an artist that's been mentioned in the book blogosphere. You can check out Phatpuppy Art, and see all the beautiful covers she has created. Pure talent!

**I love Amanda Hocking, and I can't resist a good story about witches. Throw in the sweetly designed cover, and I'm done for.**

In the small midwestern town of Honalee, Hazel Panning and her best friend Molly Novak are determined to get through her sophomore year in one piece, despite the vicious cheerleaders and Hazel's ridiculous crush on Landon Hooper.

Life gets more complicated when Hazel realizes that she has a penchant for sorcery, like her aunt. Her plans to stay under the radar take a detour when she and Molly stand up for themselves, and Hazel gets the courage to act on her feelings for Landon.

Hazel discovers that the sleepy town of Honalee isn't so sleepy, and magic doesn't make high school easier.

Why? The color scheme is gorgeous ~ purples and blues = magic ~ and it has that touch of classic witchiness. The spiderwebs and spindly trees in the background and the girl with a contrast of pale skin and dark clothing and hair illuminated by the lantern. Just completely eye-catching. Love it! That, and I'm a huge fan of Amanda Hocking :).

Oh, and you know how I love to include the trailer...

So, it wasn't really out in 2010. It was supposed to come out this year, but Amanda stated she wanted to rewrite the ending, so unfortunately, we might be waiting until 2014. So far away!! But I'm sure it'll be worth it :)

Lusting for Covers....

Lusting for Covers is a weekly meme hosted by TBQ's Book Palace ... Share your current *cover obsession* with fellow book lovers :)

They say "don't judge a book by it's cover," but c'mon, who is actually initially drawn to a book by content alone? Not saying it's impossible, but usually, it's that eye-catching element that inspires curiosity for the content...

So what's my lust-initiating cover this week? I would have to say Alma Katsu's The Reckoning...

I mean, how much more gorgeous and contrastastic can you get? Piercing blue eyes, freakishly pale skin, and that shock of red feathers... definitely sparks interest... It's seeing this cover that led me to discover the first book in the series, The Taker (another fabulous cover), one of my current reads at the moment.. And let me tell you, the beauty of the covers has, so far, done the series justice... Beautiful words...

Musing Monday

This week’s musing…

"I read an article, this past week, about book covers, and the difference between print & digital covers; about how the digital covers have almost disappeared entirely, while publishers decide to just skip right to the content.

What do you think about this? Do you think the book cover is “dead”? Do you care whether the “covers” on digital books exist or not?

I'm not sure how they come up with this information, but I hope the book cover never dies. The cover is what draws me in; it's what makes me read the 'blurb' and ultimately buy the book. There's nothing I love more than opening up my Kobo or Kindle app and seeing all the colorful squares that fill my digital library, and if I'm looking for a particular story, I always look for that familiar cover that pulled me in in the first place.

I don't view my ebooks a whole lot differently than my hard copies. My 'real' books are kinda like a work of art to me, filling up my bookshelf with all kinds of unique colors and tones, and more importantly, when I see the cover, the story comes flooding back to me and I can relive those moments. Same for my digital library.

I don't think the cover is dead, and I hope they never see it as a nonessential element in digital books.
