May New Releases

Another month means another slew of new, highly anticipated releases ~ and can you believe it's already May? Definitely feelin' summer creeping up on me...

There's really nothing better than stretching out in the sun on a warm day to read a good book, and to start us off this May, we've got a ton of fabulous books that are finally being made available for our shelves.

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all....

Katie McGarry has reached rock star status in my book of favorite authors. She's an amazing writer and totally got me hooked with Pushing the Limits. Dare You To is the second novel in her series, and it's just as incredible as the first. (See Review)... You seriously don't want to delay picking up this one May 28th :)

Sookie Stackhouse has one last adventure in store.

Life has taken her from a waitress in Merlotte’s Bar, Bon Temps, to part owner; from social outcast to the heart of her community; from a vampire’s girlfriend to the wife of one of the most powerful vampires in the state. She has survived earthquakes, revolutions and attempts on her life. Sookie has endured betrayal, heartbreak and grief . . . and she has emerged a little stronger, and little wiser, every time.

But with life comes new trials . . .

The question is, in the end: who will love, who will live, and who will be dead ever after?

Sookie finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene
when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have
Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut.
He and his vampires are keeping their distance…and a cold silence.
And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.
Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for
the crime.
But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating
the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a
convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what
passes for love is never enough...

I have, and always will be, a Sookie Stackhouse fan. I don't care if the books have outlived themselves, there is no way I'm not going to read one of Harris's novels when it's released. There's just something about this series that keeps me holding on, and I've already got my signed edition preordered to reach my doorstep May 7th.

Your heart beats only with their permission.

Everything changed on The Day. The day the windows shattered. The day the power stopped. The day Dol's family dropped dead. The day Earth lost a war it didn't know it was fighting.

Since then, Dol has lived a simple life in the countryside -- safe from the shadow of the Icon and its terrifying power. Hiding from the one truth she can't avoid.

She's different. She survived. Why?

When Dol and her best friend, Ro, are captured and taken to the Embassy, off the coast of the sprawling metropolis once known as the City of Angels, they find only more questions. While Ro and fellow hostage Tima rage against their captors, Dol finds herself drawn to Lucas, the Ambassador's privileged son. But the four teens are more alike than they might think, and the timing of their meeting isn't a coincidence. It's a conspiracy.

Within the Icon's reach, Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas discover that their uncontrollable emotions -- which they've always thought to be their greatest weaknesses -- may actually be their greatest strengths.

Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia completely stole my heart with their Beautiful Creatures installment. Going solo, Margaret Stohl is releasing a new novel, Icons, May 7th. Can't wait to see what one half of the dynamic duo comes up with!

The personification of Aryan purity, Ellyssa's spent her whole life under her creator's strict training and guidance; her purpose is to eradicate inferior beings. She was genetically engineered to be the perfect soldier: strong, intelligent, unemotional, and telepathic.
Only Ellyssa isn't perfect.
Ellyssa feels emotions--a fact she's spent her life concealing. Until she encounters the epitome of inferiority: a dark-haired boy raised among renegades hiding since the Nazis won the war a century ago. He speaks to her telepathically, pushing thoughts into her mind, despite the impossibility of such a substandard person having psychic abilities.
But he does.
His unspoken words and visions of a place she's never visited make Ellyssa question her creator. Confused and afraid her secret will be discovered, Ellyssa runs away, embarking on a journey where she discovers there is more to her than perfection.

This one I came across by chance while perusing the GoodReads lists. It has amazing ratings so far, and it seems that readers have nothing but good things to say. I'm excited to give this one a shot May 7th.

It happened on Halloween.

The world ended.

And a dangerous Game brought it back to life.

Seventeen-year-old Michael and his five-year-old brother, Patrick, have been battling monsters in The Game for weeks.

In the rural mountains of West Virginia, armed with only their rifle and their love for each other, the brothers follow Instructions from the mysterious Game Master. They spend their days searching for survivors, their nights fighting endless hordes of “Bellows”—creatures that roam the dark, roaring for flesh. And at this Game, Michael and Patrick are very good.

But The Game is changing.

The Bellows are evolving.

The Game Master is leading Michael and Patrick to other survivors—survivors who don’t play by the rules.

And the brothers will never be the same.

T. Michael Martin’s debut novel is a transcendent thriller filled with electrifying action, searing emotional insight, and unexpected romance.

Okay, isn't that cover amazingly creepy? That's what first caught my eye with The End Games. Not to mention the synopsis that brings up Halloween, monsters, battles, and surviving. Sounds like a winner to me :). Another May 7th release...

Embrace the creepiness...
