Musing Monday

This week's Musing asks:

Have you ever read a book that, at the time, you didn’t feel a strong connection towards, but as time goes by you find yourself thinking about it a lot?

I'm actually going through this right now with Anne Rice's most recent novel, The Wolf Gift. I got about three quarters of the way through ~ something which I had to force most of the time ~ and I just felt I had to put it away for later. I felt zero connection to the characters and the story, which was depressingly disappointing as I was SO looking forward to Anne Rice getting back in the groove of paranormal writing. However, I've found the book taunting me from my bookshelf, begging to be finished if only for the sake of finding out what happens. Right now, I find it difficult to form an opinion about the story, knowing I haven't received the full picture, and I'm starting to feel that I need to complete the circle and close the book for good.

Happy Reading Everyone :)

  1. I've not read anything Anne Rice has written. I have a ton of her stuff in a drawer in my office, all gifted second hand from a friend, but I've not gotten to them. Might have to pull them out and give them a go. I think my problem is that I always try to start with 'Interview with a Vampire,' maybe I'll try starting somewhere else.

Thanks for stopping by to say hello this morning!

  2. It's such a bummer to not connect with a book written by a favorite author.

  4. Yeah, I've kind of given up on Anne Rice. I fread the book before this one, Angel Time, and it was awful. LOL

I think I'm going through the same thing! With one of the novels I just started. I utterly, and completely gave up on the book. The pace felt really slow. It got to the point where I could predict exactly what was going to happen next. Good luck, though! I think I'll give mine a try too. (:

Check out my MM post? I kind of modified the whole meme. Er. A lot. Here's the link (:

  6. Interesting. It's rare that a book beckons to me when I'm not that into it. Something about it must be calling to you. Something about it must be working. Or maybe I'm the eternal optimist!
